Review – The CornStars Cornhole Board Level

CornStar Cornhole Level

We’ve all been there.  It’s the weekend, the BBQ is fired up and cold beer is in the cooler.  The kids are off having a good time somewhere (don’t worry, they are fine!) and now the adults can relax and get out the cornhole boards.

You find a good area in the backyard, pace off 27 feet (or more likely use a tape) and setup your boards.

But wait, something isn’t quite right.  🤨

The boards look level, but your monkey brain knows something is off.  Is the board tilting to the right?  Does the slope look right to you?

You want a good experience when you play, and both boards should play the same.  So you run to the garage and grab your level (after some searching…it’s never where you remember leaving it).  After some shimming and deft maneuvers of the level you are mostly confident the boards are now setup properly.  That is of course until 5 minutes into them game when one of the kids “accidently” bumps into one of the boards.

Dang!  Time to get out the level again.

Honestly, it’s not a huge deal for most folks…but I’m an engineer by trade and tend to be a bit of a perfectionist.  I want me boards setup correctly!  And while using the level gets me close, it not super convenient or all that accurate.

So, I went looking for something designed for just this task…and I found it!

The CornStars Cornhole Level  has completely revolutionized my cornhole board leveling experience.  As an avid cornhole player, I am always looking for ways to improve my game, and this product has exceeded my expectations.

So, if you still don’t think you need to level your boards, let me just say that leveling a cornhole board is essential to ensure fair and consistent gameplay.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to level a cornhole board:

  1. Find a flat surface: Start by placing the cornhole board on a flat surface, such as a concrete patio, driveway, or a level wooden deck. It’s crucial to choose a stable surface that is free from any bumps or slopes.
  2. Check for any visible irregularities: Inspect the playing surface of the cornhole board for any visible irregularities, such as dents, bumps, or warping. If you notice any significant damage, it may be necessary to repair or replace the board.
  3. Use a leveling tool: A leveling tool, such as a bubble level or the CornStars Cornhole Level mentioned in the previous review, can help you accurately determine if the board is level. Place the leveling tool on different areas of the board to check for any imbalances.
  4. Adjust the legs (if applicable): Some cornhole boards come with adjustable legs, which allow you to fine-tune the levelness. If your board has adjustable legs, extend or retract them accordingly to achieve a level playing surface. Make sure all the legs are adjusted to the same height.
  5. Utilize shims: If your cornhole board has fixed legs or you need additional leveling, you can use shims. Shims are small, wedge-shaped pieces that can be placed under the legs or corners of the board to adjust the height and compensate for any unevenness. Use a bubble level to ensure the board is level after adding the shims.  For next level board stabilization check out our product review for PUCS Elite 3 in 1 Cornhole Board Stabilization System.
  6. Test the board: Once you have made the necessary adjustments, it’s important to test the board’s levelness. Place a cornhole bag on different areas of the board and observe if it rolls or slides in a consistent manner. If the bag consistently rolls to one side, you may need to make further adjustments.
  7. Repeat the process: Over time, the cornhole board may shift or settle, requiring periodic leveling. It’s a good practice to check the board’s levelness before each game or event to ensure fairness and accuracy.

By following these steps, you can effectively level a cornhole board and create an optimal playing surface for enjoyable and fair cornhole matches.

Hope this product review was helpful.  Have fun out there!
