Best All Weather Cornhole (Bean Bag Toss) Set

Driveway Games All Weather Cornhole Set

We live in Oregon.

That means that we get about 140 days of sun each year. The rest of the time…it’s wet.

Cornhole In The Rain

And since we live at the coast, we get even more rain than the rest of the state.

All that rain, and general wetness, is not good for wood cornhole boards. So, unless we have an indoor place to play…that means 225 days out of the year we can’t play cornhole.

That sucks!

But there is a solution.

All Weather Cornhole boards and bags!

There are a few options out there, but the best set I have found is Driveway Games All Weather Cornhole Set.

I LOVE THIS SET!

And even if you don’t live in a wet, or really humid area, there are some really good reasons to consider an All Weather Cornhole Set.

Like playing cornhole at the beach or lake? Sand and moisture (especially salt water) can damage your wood boards and the metal hardware.

All Weather Cornhole Set Beach

Have a swimming pool in the back yard? Wet kids dripping all over your wood boards can damage them over time.

All Weather Cornhole Set

Like to take your boards to parties, or other locations that require you to carry them further than the driveway to the backyard? These All Weather Cornhole boards weigh 18lbs each (compared to ~25lbs for a wood cornhole board). Instead of carrying that extra 7lbs per board…you can carry an extra 16 cans of your favorite beer!

OK, so there are some compelling reasons why you should consider an All Weather Cornhole Set.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the details?

Board Details

This cornhole game set includes 2 weatherproof regulation-size cornhole boards (2×4 feet).

Driveway Games All Weather Cornhole Set Board Details

The Driveway Games All Weather Cornhole boards are extremely well-made. They are waterproof and won’t warp in humidity or rain, unlike wooden corn hole boards. You can use them on any surface, in damp weather, at the beach or poolside.

When it comes to quality, you’ll find it here! These plastic boards are dimensionally correct and durable in every possible way!

Concerned about longevity?

I would estimate that these “All Weather” rated boards will truly stand the test of time.  Because they are not wood, this only strengthens the case for these lasting a VERY LONG time!

The only downside I can see, compared to the heavier wooden models, is the bags bounce more on these. If this doesn’t matter to you, you really can’t beat these for the quality and the price.

At first, I was concerned that plastic wasn’t going to respond in the same way as wood. After one toss, I was relieved to find that, while there are some difference (plastic boards cause the bean bags to bounce a little more), it didn’t affect the game or enjoyment of playing!

These aren’t tournament boards. These are throw ’em in the back of the truck, leave out in the rain, drag through the yard, have a great time just playing cornhole boards!

One really great benefit of plastic… If they get dirty, moldy or have mildew growing all over them, you can simply wipe them down with some bleach or hit them with the hose. You can’t do that with your wood cornhole boards!

And at only 18lbs per board, this is a fairly portable cornhole game set that’s light enough to take with you to picnics and parties

Built-in locking bean bag storage in bottom makes for easy clean up, no awkward carrying of 8 bean bags, and no lost bean bags!

Cornhole Bags

The Driveway Games All Weather Cornhole set wouldn’t be complete without All Weather Cornhole Bags!

With this set you get 8 regulation-size (6 x 6 inch), official weight (14 oz) cornhole bean bags.

These waterproof bean bags are made of heavy all-weather canvas, filled with moisture/pest-proof plastic pellets, and are double-stitched for durability!

All Weather Cornhole Bags

Considering that quality all weather cornhole bags are $25-$30 for a set of 8, getting a complete set of bags with these all weather boards is a great value!

Best Place to Get Your All Weather Cornhole Set

And if you have Amazon Prime, you can get this set shipped for free! Not all sellers on Amazon offer Prime or free shipping (most of them cost $35+ to ship)…so it is great when I find one that does offer FREE Prime shipping.

Another thing I love about Amazon is that they have a robust product review system. I often use these reviews in making my buying decision, and the Driveway Games All Weather Cornhole Set is no exception.

Conclusion

I’m sure you are not going to be playing in a monsoon or thunderstorm. But with the Driveway Games All Weather Cornhole Set you could!

What I am sure you might do, is forget your cornhole boards and bags outside. (We’ve all done it…especially after some good BBQ and lots of beer).

Even during the summer, dew and extreme changes in temperature can, over time, warp wooden boards or cause the wood to separate and fall apart.

This is bad news for wood boards, but these plastic boards aren’t effected in the least. (OK, if you get one of the colored boards, leaving them out in the sun will fade them over time…other than that, they are impervious to the elements!)

If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, but want a quality cornhole set you can enjoy today and many years to come…then the Driveway Games All Weather Cornhole / Bean Bag Toss game set is the only way to go!

  1. Great article. When I heard that you don’t have sunlight for almost all the days of the year it sound seriously incredulous. But its very possible unlike Africa where Sun has made some people run away from their houses. Smiles. But what is more interesting to me is the solution found to be able to play the cornhole game. Although I’m not familiar with this game but the tone behind this article looks so bright and promising. The free Amazon shipping is another encouragement for anybody that wants to it.

    Great piece.

    1. Hey there and welcome from…Africa?!?!  Awesome that The Cornhole is getting exposure from around the world!

In my case, I will take the dark and rain over too many hot and sunny days.

You should check out the game my friend and start the Cornhole craze in Africa.  Last time I checked, Amazon delivers to a lot of areas in Africa.

Have fun and don’t get burned in all that sun!

  2. I’m really surprised it took them this long to have them made out of plastic.  I’ve never played the game myself, but it does sound like fun.  Maybe I can start out with plastic, and they’ll be no learning curve for me.

Thanks for the review.  I do believe hubby and I may be checking these out this Spring for our home in Florida—where it’s humid!Laura

    1. Laura,

Make it your resolution to play cornhole at least once in 2019.  I promise if you do, you’ll never want to stop playing!

Plastic boards would do great in the Florida humidity.  This particular set is perfectly suited for the beach!

      Have fun out there!

  3. I was wondering if they made a more durable material for this game. I’ve gone through two sets that were made out of wood. Both sets deteriorated after a few years from exposure to the outside elements and had to be replaced. My family and friends love playing the game at my barbecues.

The set I have now will probably need to be replaced in a couple of years. So I am going to bookmark your site so I can refer back to it to order another cornhole game and never worry about having to replace it again.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

    1. Hello Kevin.

If you don’t mind the non traditional “plastic” board, then this might just be the perfect replacement set.  We love ours as we tend to leave them outside most of the time.  And even in the summer, we still get rain.  I couldn’t do that with my wood boards.

Come back and let us know how you like the boards if you end up getting them.

  4. Its look interesting games. Its look fun as beach game, playing with family.Beside the lightweight, how about size? Is it easy to carry? Is it practical to bring for long distance travel? It would be nice if its come with a bag, its easier to bring during picnic. My family like to spend time at the beach during our vacation. I really love this cornhole set and the review also looks good. Its should be a good catch.

    1. Cornhole is an amazing game, that is super easy to learn.  Everyone in your family will enjoy it.

The board are 2’x4′ and with the bags, they can be a little heavy and awkward.  If you are a smaller person, you might have to carry one at a time.  Each board with the bags weighs about 20lbs. There are a couple of generic cornhole bags available as well, making them a little easier to carry.

These boards with fit in the trunk of some cars, and for sure a truck or SUV.  They lay pretty flat so you might be able to tuck them under a bench seat.

Summer is coming up fast!  Get your cornhole set and get ready for the beach.

      Have fun out there!

  5. Well am not a big fan of cornhole but your article has really provided me with great encouragement to try it out and I Fe like I can do this anytime soon, what will be your advice for a newbie like me who is about trying that cornhole game. I will read over this post again and always check back here for more updates. Thanks

    1. Not a big fan or cornhole?  We’ll stick around and you will be.

The Driveway Games All Weather cornhole set is a great entry level set.  I highly recommend it for anyone just looking to get into the game of cornhole.

      Why do I recommend it?

      – It is affordable
      – Can take a ton of abuse
      – Lighter than wood
      – Super low maintenance

Get one…play for a week…then come back and tell me you are not a fan of cornhole!  😉

  6. The world is improving and everything is improving as well, any terrain whereby water drops more than half time of the entire calendar year should use things that resist water. So I asked, why would anyone stick with wood cornhole board? It doesn’t make sense to me and looking at your review, there is only a little difference between using the plastic and wooden cornhole board. What it means is longevity and durability at low cost. I live along the coast too, this will be a great product around here.

    1. Cornhole boards started out being made in garages out of wood.  In my case (and I’m sure for a lot of other folks) I made them from left overs from a remodel project.  You only need a few 2×4’s, a sheet of plywood and some screws to build one.

So, wood is and will always define the definitive “cornhole board”.  Alas, wood just doesn’t hold up as well in wet climates (not without a lot of protection).  And that is what makes these plastic boards so appealing.  Plus they tend to be lighter and can take a lot of abuse (loading and unloading).

Hope you get a chance to pickup one of these Driveway Games All Weather cornhole sets!  If you do, come back and let us know how it worked out for you.

  7. Hello Michael,

This is very good to know that the all weather cornhole board exists.  All i know was the wooden ones that always needs to be replaced.  I live in Vancouver and it rains all the time which is very similar to Oregon.  I totally agree with you that this is the way to go since this is a very sturdy product and is also 7 lbs lighter than the wooden counterparts.

I will surely get one for myself

Thank you for an indepth review

    1. Hello Francis,

Nice to see a fellow Pacific Northwesterner here at The Cornhole!  🙂

I’m a wood board guy…I’ve build a ton, and love the way they play.  However, the Driveway Game All Weather let me play in well…all weather, which is great.  And to be honest, the plastic boards play really nice.  I was impressed that the “grab” or “slide” of the bags was very similar to my wood boards.  They sound a little different when the bags hit, but other than that…they are just as good as wood!

  8. The all weather cornhole board is amazing and a great improvement on the wooden board. I have heard a lot about the game but I am not familiar with it.

The review in this article make me want to fall in love with it. I love the fact that it is durable and portable and can be used on many surfaces. Thank goodness it can be purchased from Amazon.

    1. If you live in a wet climate, the plastic boards will last a LOT longer and have easier maintenance than the wood cornhole boards.  If you are going to be playing inside all the time, or live in a climate that is mostly dry, wood cornhole boards are the only way to go.

However, if you live in a humid, wet climate…and want to leave your boards outside…or you spend a lot of time on the beach, the all weather cornhole boards are the right way to go.  These things can take a lot of abuse as well.  Not that wood boards can’t…but usually the wood boards have a nice finish that you want to protect.

Get yourself a cornhole set and start enjoying this super fun game!
