Review – West Georgia Cornhole Stained All Wood Boards

West Georgia Cornhole Stained Stripe Bean Bag Toss Set

I’m going to focus the next couple of posts on reviewing custom cornhole board manufactures here in the USA.

We built our first cornhole set from 2×4’s and 3/4″ plywood. Add a ton of glue and screws and you ended up with a set of boards you could drive your car over! There is just something special, and traditional, about handcrafted heavy-duty cornhole boards.

In this review, we are going to be looking at the West Georgia Cornhole stained wood set.

West Georgia Cornhole Stained Wood Boards

These boards honest look like they could be hanging on the wall in your living room! The quality and finish is a work of art.

Before we get into the details, let me give you all an overview of West Georgia Cornhole and their product.

All of their boards are handcrafted in the USA using the highest quality of materials, and the boards are built using top-notch design influenced by 6+ years of experience making cornhole boards and many more years of play.

About West Georgia Cornhole

The company was founded by a gentleman by the name of Brandon who was born and raised in Douglasville, Georgia, just west of Atlanta. He is a West Georgia University Alumni with a degree in Marketing and minor in Real Estate.

His father has owned a metal fabrication business for 25 plus years. He has a very entrepreneurial spirit and is hands-on and very creative. Like his father, Brandon loves to build, create, and design all types of projects, from custom furniture to outdoor games such as cornhole boards.

He truly enjoys seeing these products develop from an idea to a finalized product.

West Georgia Cornhole

Brandon began building cornhole boards in the summer of 2011 somewhat on accident. A friend asked him to build a set of cornhole boards for her parents as a gift. He created a set of boards that overjoyed her parents. When he asked his friend why she requested him to build this set, she soon realized she had confused Brandon with another friend that built a set she had seen in the past.

She was extremely impressed by the quality of Brandon’s work and this began West Georgia Conrhole. From then on word of mouth and Facebook was his main source of orders. Family, friends, and locals in the community began hearing about the products and requested a variety of designs.

Brandon loves working with customers to create new designs and strive to provide the best customer service and a quality product that we both can be proud to show off.

So, keep in mind as you read this review, if you want custom designed cornhole boards, you’d be wise to hit up Brandon to help you design and build your boards.

OK, so how is that for an origin story? These are the kind of small USA based companies that I love to support!

Production Method

One unique thing about West Georgia Cornhole is if you can dream it, they can build it. They will even submit
you a sample proof prior to build, so you can see firsthand how they will look. At that point, you can make changes to the designs, until you are completely satisfied with the end results.

These boards are ACO Regulation size and height 24″x48″

All of the West Georgia Cornhole boards come with the following features:

West Georgia Cornhole literally provides everything you need to play ACO regulation cornhole! It’s the perfect set for someone new to the game as well as it includes the rules and measuring string.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a hand-crafted, high quality, American made cornhole set look no further than the West Georgia Cornhole sets. In this review, I looked specifically at the Stained Tripe board, but all of their boards have the same quality.

As far as price goes, they are competitive, often $50-$75 cheaper, than the likes of Slick Woody’s who probably makes some of the best boards out there. And just like Slick Woody’s, West Georgia Cornhole offers custom designs to their customers.

  1. West Georgia corn hole makes lovely boards indeed! For such great quality, the price is a great deal. My favorite part is that they are a US based company. I love supporting within my country! I’ve had some super lightweight and cheap portable corn holes before. You definitely get what you pay for! I will bookmark this and check it out! Do you know typically how long these boards will last? Including if left out in inclement weather? Thank you so much for sharing.

    1. I really like that they are US made as well.  There are some good Chinese made products out there, many of which are designed in the US.  However, there is nothing like good old USA craftsmanship!

And for sure these boards are not your cheap lightweight cornhole boards…these bad boys weight in at over 50 pounds.  They are built to take a lot of abuse and last a long time.

So, while the boards have a coating of UV poly, they are not 100% weatherproof. Leaving them out in the rain overnight is not going to be an issue.  Leaving them outside all winter….well, you might have some work to do come spring before they are ready for play.

If you take good care of these boards, they should last you 10+ years easy.  You’ll go through a lot of bags before these boards will start to wear out or break.

Thanks for stopping by The Cornhole.  Hope you get a chance to enjoy some nice weather and play cornhole this summer!

  2. I am looking for a hand-crafted, high quality, American made cornhole set I guess I would look no further than the West Georgia Cornhole sets. Your totally sold the West Georgia Cornhole Stained All Wood Board to me.

I might just as well gift my parents this Cornhole Wood Board. They would thoroughly love it for their 35th wedding anniversary.

    1. Hello Peace!

West Georgia Cornhole makes a quality product.  If you are looking for something really special for your parents 35th wedding anniversary, I highly recommend you reach out to West Georgia cornhole.  They can help you create a one of a kind design to commemorate the special day!

Think of all the fun new memories that will be made playing cornhole on their custom cornhole boards from their daughter.  That is pretty cool!

Congratualtions to your parents…that is a huge milestone!

  3. We received our cornhole set and opened them up Dec. 23rd in excitement. It was supposed to be a “big ” gift for our 3 children for Christmas . However, we were shocked to find the quality on this set compared to the other set we bought last year or the sets we have referred friends to purchase was AWFUL . I had submitted photos to help us resolve this issue . Here are the concerns I stated to them .
The front of Board 1 to the right of the hole is white in color and appears to maybe had something put on the board before the finish dried. The front of board 2 , bottom left, there is a large area that is very rough and appears to have not been sanded. The top outside of board #1 it appears the finish ran and was not brushed out .
I sent a email with pictures of lack of quality on Dec 23rd , since then I have emailed 4 more times , called 6 times ( with no answer) and left messages since Dec 23rd . The only response I got was a week ago when ( 3 weeks after Christmas ) that they admitted it was not good quality and stated the reason was they were in a rush to get Christmas orders out. They said they would give me $50 off and I keep the bad quality boards or I had to pay to ship it back and they would put it “in line” to be remade. I replied and told them I did not think that was a fair solution. Week later with 2 more calls and an email with No reply or call back and it is now a month with the “Christmas cornhole boards gift not being used”. Again very disappointed. There are many other cornhole companies out there and some had better reviews and better prices . I was thinking I was doing the right thing by spending $ at a small local company . I was very wrong .
